Podiatric Biomechanics
Podiatric Biomechanics is the specialist area of Podiatry that looks at the way the body works when in motion. Walking and running with poor foot posture or function can contribute to a whole host of injuries.
Including;
Lower back pain - such as Sacro-Iliac Dysfunction
Hip pain - such as Trochanteric Bursitis
Knee pain - such as Patellafemoral pain or Illiotibial Band Friction Syndrome
Shin pain - such as Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (shin splints) or Compartment Syndrome
Ankle pain - such as Non Healing Ligament Sprains
Foot pain - such as Plantar fasciitis or Forefoot pain (metatarsalgia)
The assessment generally looks at the strength, flexibility and the alignment of the legs and feet. This can be done in a static & dynamic position as well as considering current footwear, activities and medical conditions.
